My Story
As an experienced social researcher, I've had multiple opportunities of gaining rich research experience along the way, and bring them to the table while doing User Experience research.
Here's what I'm adept in doing: I identify research questions, synthesize past research on the issue, design & innovate on the method to do the research in order to uncover complex problems, and advocate for using qualitative methods to distill actionable research insights from data.
Being from the background of Sociology enables me to deconstruct motivations behind human behavior. "Empathetic Understanding" or 'Verstehen' as coined by German Sociologist Max Weber, is designed to be part of our sociological perspective. I bring those to the table when applied to UX Research.
I love spotting problems, and solving problems, with objective singularity and subjective, nuanced reading.
My top 5 talents are: (1) Analytical (2) Empathetic (3) Learner (4) Strategic (5) Persistent.
Over the years, having lived in 8 countries in 3 continents (and picking up 5 languages along the way) I have learnt that trust is the fuel that runs human behavior. And the key to building trust in relationships could differ by cultural lexicons, but somewhere along the way, human beings are very similar in their behavior of highly valuing honesty and authenticity.
My calling is in advocating for humans behind the 'users', their needs, frustrations, joys and pains, and invoke intersectionality in their identities (disability, age, sexuality, socioeconomic status, education level, ethno-racial background, gender, etc.). Whenever possible, I hope to contribute towards building inclusive, intuitive, accessible, and delightful user experiences.
